Mac Pro 1.1 El Capitan Install Usb

I have a few MacPro3,1's at my school I'd like to update to El Capitan 10.11.6. Currently they're running 10.5.8. I've got really slow WiFi-internet access, but the MacPro's do not have Airport. How do I attack this?
I want to make an up-to-date USB-install stick. I know I need to get hold of El Capitan, but my personal MacBook Pro is still running Mavericks. I can only update to Sierra. So I have to find an El Capitan-running Mac, but if I manage to get hold of the El Capitan-installer, it will be tied to their Apple-ID, right? Will El Capitan install without internet access?

  1. May 26, 2019 First you will need to download the restore disk image of El Capitan (10.11.6) which you will need to install onto your hard drive of the 1,1/2.1 Mac Pro. 2. Jan 01, 2007 I use my MacBook Pro with El Capitan as the boot drive and use the MAC Pro G5 as a storage device - the Mac Pro still boots to Lion but it is controlled by my MacBook Pro. The method I used was via an Ethernet '7' connection. One good thing about doing this is if I want to use a 'retro' version of an application. I still can on the Mac Pro.

My Pro 1,1 with 32GB RAM, an SSD, and an ATI 5770 runs El Cap absolutely great. The only big issue is that it uses quite a lot of power compared to a modern machine. No, it's not as fast as a new mac, but it's totally capable of being a daily driver for most uses. OS X El Capitan Installer. Official OS X El Capitan Installer from the Mac App Store. Un-archive the zip archive and you will get the app Installer. A bootable ISO or bootable USB can be made from this installer. Instructions on how to do that are on the Internet/Youtube.
